What's New in 2009
I have been approached about possibly hosting another field day show. I want to see if there would be enough
interest to pursue this. It would be held in Walterboro, SC again and we are looking at sometime in October 2009.
If you would be interested in coming to this show and would like to be kept up-to-date on plans please
email me. I'd love to hear of your interest, how many chinchillas
you typically show at a time, and if you would want a vending both.
Oct. 20 2007

Our last event was a field day show and seminar in Walterboro, SC on Oct 20, 2007.
It was an Educational 10 class show. Our judge was Ralph Shoots. Lunch was provided
halfway through the show. Ribbons and trophys were awarded afterward.

Seminar Highlights
Saturday August 16 in Louisburg, North Carolina. We had a great turn out, learned a lot, and made some new friends!
Topics for this show included all aspects of chinchilla shows and what the judges look for. We also covered topics for basic breeding, chinchilla heath, pairing chinchillas, fur rings, and much more!
If you’d like to be contacted for our next get-together please join our email list at the bottom of this page.

Our seminar was hosted by Lee and Iris Musselwhite of Circle M Ranch. The morning
started with Karen Hill of Alyssum Acres who talked about chinchilla shows;
how they run and what to expect.
|
|
She also gave a very detailed demonstration on how to groom for the show. We all had a chance to practice and ask questions as we went.
| |
 |
Since everyone there was interested in breeding, Karen talked a bit about cage setup, introducing chinchillas, how to check for hair rings, and answered everyone’s questions.
|
|
We took a break for lunch and a chance to chat with each other and look at the chinchillas that were brought for sale.
| |
 |
After lunch Lee Musselwhite took the floor to discuss chinchilla quality. He talked about the different areas judges consider when looking at the chinchillas in a show. He talked about the best age to show and gave some advice to those who brought chinchillas.
|
|
Throughout the day we had many group discussions and were able to share our experiences with each other. I think everyone there learned a great deal.

 |
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event!
