Goats
|
When my husband and I first desided to buy goats,
we were hiring four-legged gardeners. A neighbor had more than he could handle and gave us one. Little did we know
she was about to become two! Of course, for some reason, goats tend to birth at the same time, so our neighbor was also littered with new kids. By then we had the "baby"
fever and adopted two of his kids who were abandoned by their real mother. I spent most of my time out with my new
"children" since they require many bottle feedings and a
lot of attention.

Living with goats I have learned many things. They are very affectionate creatures. They will fight each other
over who will get petted. They come running whenever they see me, and never miss a chance for a good scratch.
Also, they are very smart. They know where the feed is kept and invent ways to get at it. Of course, since
I mentioned inventive I should also point out that they can find a way out of almost any pen we build. They have even
waded out to their necks in our pond to get around their fence! Life with
goats is never dull. |
